PCOS and Eating Disorders

Maybe you suffer due to PCOS on eating disorders! In a study Lee I, et al. collected data on eating disorders in PCOS women and their effects on the women's quality of life. It was recently published in Fertil Steril. 2017

. Study results in a nutshell: For it 148 women with PCOS and 106 non-PCOS women seen for routine gynecologic care have been interviewed in 2015 and 2016. Women with PCOS were at an increased risk for an overall abnormal eating disorder (12.16% vs. 2.83%). Clinically significant elevated scores were noted for shape and weight concern. In addition these women had an increased occurrence of body mass index, depression and anxiety. These findings suggest the need for routine screening for eating disorders in PCOS women. So, if you feel you suffer on eating disorder, please consult your general practitioner for help. Great programs are nowadays available even to reduce food intake at night or extensive portions. Ask for professional help, alone it will be unlikely to get eating disorders in control!!!
